Work out how many tiles you need

Now you need to work out how many tiles you will need. It is important to make sure that you order plenty of tiles to accommodate for wastage so that you don’t run out of tiles at any stage. There is nothing worse than getting almost to the end of a tiling project and running out of tiles, especially if the same tiles can’t be sourced again! So, make sure you work with us to determine exactly how many tiles you will need for your job.

What else do I need?

Next step in getting this tiling project up and running is working out what other items you will need in order to finish the project. Baths, vanities, tapware, toilets, shower screens… There are many great suppliers in Adelaide and so many options to choose from. Will you choose a back to wall toilet, wall hung vanity or maybe a heated towel rail. It’s great to compile a list of the items you think you might need and make some selections prior to your job commencing.

Laundry in the kitchen: Space Invader OR Space Saver?

Laundry renovation adelaide

Laundry in the kitchen: Space invader OR Space saver?!

House lots are getting smaller and gone are the days of a ¼ acre block with 4-5 bedroom homes with monster bathrooms & massive oversized laundries (well for most of us anyway!) #sigh

These days every bit of space needs to be used effectively so that you have more room to actually live your life in!

The Brits have been onto this for years with their space saving idea of a ‘european laundry’ which essentially incorporates the washing and drying facilities into the kitchen cabinetry and uses the sink plumbing and waste.

laundry renovation

This is now trending in Adelaide as the search for space has become more of a big deal!

The benefit of having your laundry hidden in the kitchen is not only a space saver and potentially more convenient but the cost of actually building the laundry, timber framing, electrical, plastering, screeding, waterproofing, tiling the floors, tiling the walls, building the cabinetry (& the list goes on), these costs are all saved!

That’s more living space for you and more money in your pocket to furnish it!

A european laundry is an especially cost & space saving option when renovating a unit or townhouse where the space in your bathroom/wet area is particularly limited. By incorporating your laundry into your kitchen, you give yourself precious space to work with to make your bathroom wow!!

Floor tiling your living areas!

Floor tiling

Floor tiling – choose to be on trend in your living spaces!

So you’ve bought a house!
That’s fantastic! Buying your first home or trading up to a bigger home is an exciting time!

But you know that if your offer was accepted, there would definitely be a handful of renovations that you would have done prior to moving in.

Often older houses are bought with carpet through the living areas – well that’s usually the first thing to go.

Modern homes have open plan living areas with hard floor coverings. Large format floor tiles are ideal for these spaces as tiles are hard wearing in high traffic. High gloss floor tiles often brings light into the house where carpet wouldn’t.

Floor tiling is a simple procedure for areas that were once previously carpeted. Usually you will find the concrete slab is in good condition. After the carpet and edge trim has been removed, it will be easily ready for priming prior to floor tiling.

Replacing carpet with floor tiles is also a great choice to reduce allogens in the home. With many Australian households struggling with at least one member with allergies &/or asthma this is more important than ever!

So if you are renovating your home and thinking about tiling your floors, put down your Vogue Magazine, sip the last of your vegan soy latte & feel good about yourself because floor tiling is on point & on trend!

Bathroom Renovation – choosing the best wall tile

Bathroom Renovation – choosing the best wall tile…

Over 40% of household water is used in the bathroom!!

Wow! Standard shower heads use about 15-25 litres of water every minute! So if you’re having a 10 minute shower thats a whopping 250 litres of water being used every day in your bathroom and that’s just for 1 person having 1 shower per day!!

Fair to say that your bathroom is taking a beating! High water usage, dirt & grime & all those products that we use to keep us smelling like a pomegranate can all take its toll on everything in your bathroom from tiles to grout & silicone.

With this in mind, its no wonder that the modern bathroom wall tile has gone from a 150 x 150mm square to the most popular tile of 2015 a 300 x 600mm wall tile!

But how does this help you & why is it great for the longevity of your new bathroom renovation??

It’s the grout!

Effectively the modern 300 x 600mm wall tile covers the same area as 6 old 150 x 150mm wall tiles which cuts out all of the internal grout lines!

Modern bathroom grout has come a long way in the past 30 years but grout is still the first sign of an ageing bathroom.

Limiting your grout lines will make your bathroom renovation stay looking modern, fresh & new for longer & on top of that, it’s so much easier to clean a tile than a grout joint!

So, when your undertaking your next bathroom renovation we suggest a 300 x 600mm wall tile! Check them out at Beaumont Tiles Edwardstown! & if you tile with us we’ll bargain 10-20% off the retail price of your tiles and put that $$ straight back into your pocket!
